Iran Pavilion, Expo 2015

Key facts & challenges

Short Description
The three key themes of the idea of the Expo 2015 Iran Pavilion, are summarized by an element: the sofreh, a square piece of cloth that represents the laden table, one of the most significant items for Iran's culinary culture. From this element derives, the architecture of the pavilion: an open structure similar to a tent whose internal surface resembles the typical design of sofreh. His cloth tells the story of food and agriculture of the Iranian people. Gradually the surface unfolds in the air in a curved wall with triangular cells; on the ceiling there is a mosaic of mirrors. The pavilion is divided into two distinct levels: the upper part is dedicated to the exhibition space, divided according to the seven climatic regions of Iran, and the lower one is reserved for local products and Iranian cuisine.
